Hufty Fire, Kuskanax Mountain, as seen from 7th Avenue NW, Nakusp, 12 August 1971. Nakusp Secondary School at bottom left. Photo by D. Pratt (brother-in-law of Terrie Uyeda). Caption from unidentified trade publication: 'Photo of this major fire, about ten miles north of Nakusp, British Columbia, was taken by D. Pratt, of Central London Claims. He visited B.C. as part of his holiday this year, and saw several big forest fires, some possible started by "Hippies". The Canadians wade in with heavy stuff—Caterpillar bulldozers, water tankers and aircraft, because unless check such fires can ruin thousands of acres. Luckily, the big fire show "blew back on itself" and went out after two weeks.'
