Charles Herbert Mackintosh and his wife Gertrude Mackintosh on beach below Halcyon Hot Springs hotel, ca. early 20th century. Mackintosh was the former lieutenant-governor of the Northwest Territories (1893-1898) who was part of a consortium led by Dr. Robert Brett and David MacPherson that purchased the resort from Captain Robert Sanderson in 1898 and ran it until 1924, when the resort was transferred to General Fred Burnham.
