Postcard of ruined village of Carency, Pas-de-Calais, France, after its destruction by the Germans during World War I. Title translates as 'In the ruins underneath which the German corpses are many'. Inscription on rear from Fred Vipond of Nakusp, who fought here with the Canadian Corps: 'These are the sort of Villages we are capturing these days. The "heavie's"[sic] don't leave much standing.
