Postcard of bombed-out house, Villers-au-Bois, Pas-de-Calais, France, following bombardment by German forces during World War I. Title translates as 'A big bomb just hit this house.' Photo by D.A. Longuet, Paris; postcard by Charles Ledieu, Arras. Inscription on rear from Fred Vipond of Nakusp, who fought here with the Canadian Corps: 'The nearest inhabited Village to Vimy ridge. the flare lights & shell bursts were before the April 9th visible from here. We were billeted here for a while last winter. F.V.'
