Eric Brown (left) and Bay Brown (right) on top of Saddle Mountain with Osborne Fire Finder, 1927. Bay Brown is plotting positions of forest fires. Accompanied newspaper clipping from Arrow Lakes News taped to back of photocopy: '50 Years Ago, Friday, August 12, 1927. Miss Bay Brown, in charge of the forestry lookout on Saddleback, was in town Thursday. Her telephone line from the lookout to West Demars had become disorganized and she travelled the line and found two breaks which she repaired. The line is a little over five miles in length and is laid over ground so that the insulation material is frequently a great attraction to small chewing rodents who "ground" the wire causing a break in the circuit.'
