The Nelson family on New Year's Day in Galena Bay, 1944. Inscription on rear, "A picture taken under difficulties at 9am New Years Day (Jan 1st) 1944 just before Margaret sailed from Galena Bay wharf in the Northeast arm four miles from our home. Cold wind blowing from the north and some sleet. Margaret to right of group with parcels under her arm. Walter to right. The young woman second from left is her chum at school in Nelson. We started from home on the sleigh by lantern light 7:30am. Photo with John's kodak and super xx high speed film. A very precious picture. Sent March 4th 1944"
