Postcard of bombed-out house, Bully-des-Mines, Pas-de-Calais, France, following bombardment by German forces during World War I. Postcard by Allemon Béthune, Paris. Inscription on rear from Fred Vipond of Nakusp, who fought here with the Canadian Corps: 'I was billeted here several times last winter. This is quite a large town, & is only 1 1/2 miles from the line. Their[sic] was quite a civil population there last winter too. I don't know why he didn't level it. Perhaps because we didn't strafe Lens. Things have changed now, & perhaps he is strafing it. F.V.'
