Postcard of French infantryman posing amidst ruins at ruined village of Carency, Pas-de-Calais, France, after its recapture from German forces, World War I. Title translates as 'Our infrantrymen in the village after the defeat of the Huns.' Postcard by Allemon Béthune, Paris. Inscription on rear from Fred Vipond of Nakusp, who fought here with the Canadian Corps: 'Another ruined Village we passed on our way to Vimy Ridge. Fritz used gas here, when the French held this part of the line. He killed many of the civil population, including women & children. F.V.'
